NARFE, Chapter 377
We welcome you to the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, or NARFE for short. Our chapter, Number 377, which is part of the Pennsylvania NARFE Federation, seeks to further that aim and helps us unite as a group to make our voices heard in Washington.
NARFE not only keeps us informed about actions in Washington on the laws and regulations affecting Federal retirees but also lobbies on our behalf. In times like these, you need NARFE and NARFE needs you. It seems like the Congress is forever looking for ways to reduce our earned benefits whether it be delaying or reducing our Cost of Living Adjustments (COLAs) or meddling with the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. (FEHBP)
I am sure you will want to know more about this organization, and the best way that you can do that is to come to our local chapter meetings. We meet monthly, usually the third Tuesday (see navigation pane on left for more information on meetings).
NARFE works protect and improve federal benefits. Although many retirees have joined to protect their earned benefits, NARFE works to protect and enhance benefits for both active and retired federal employees. Whether you are a retiree or active federal employee, I urge you to join. It is in both my interest and yours.
Recently NARFE has lobbied Congress to pass several bills for the benefit of active employees including parental leave and FERS and TSP improvements. For retirees, they have helped defeat cuts to our health and pension benefits and made sure we were included in the recent stimulus package. If you want to read more about any of these, please see the National NARFE site in the External Links at left.
This website is something NARFE Chapter 377 is trying out to see if it is useful for members. I suspect we will be adding quite a bit in the next few months. So this is very much a work in progress and we ask you to send in your ideas (see the contact page).
